Kimora Lee Simmons, Baby Phat, Golden Goddess, A Cat Image

When you believe in God, He will always open your eyes in order for you to know what's good and what's bad. When you have a good relationship with God, you will definitely know when you do something terrible. God is a good friend, just like you can have a relationship with anybody, you can have the same relationship with God, the difference is that your relationship with God will be Divine and Holy.

I remember in about a year and a half ago, the brand Baby Phat was very popular, I mean you would see it everywhere, it was the brand to wear if you didn't want to be old fashion. Even some of my friends who are Christians would wear it. I used to go to the stores to see if I want to buy it for my own use also, but every time I see the design, it hurts my body so bad, I feel as if I was dehydrated, it irritates me so much. When I saw that the design was so popular, I thought I should try to own something of the brand, but when I made the decision to look more into the brand, the idea bothers me from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. I said to myself, "Why would I want to wear a CAT as fashion? Why would a woman choose a CAT as a design for her brand?" I actually never looked at the slogan beneath the logo until a couple days ago. But the slogan, "GOLDEN GODDESS" is not my point today. My point is that there was something in my mind that kept telling me there was something related to the DEVIL behind that logo. About six(6) months passed when this was troubling me, and then came our Philadelphia Annual Haitian Gospel Crusade, God read me well and He had given me enough time to process my feelings about the BAby Phat logo.

A morning like right now, the designated preacher, Pastor Prudent for the crusade was running a fasting day and I went to participate, it was at the church where I belong, Moriah Baptist Church in Philadelphia, and guess what? The Pastor's subject was to focus on the youth who follow things when they do not know what they mean and he went straight up to the "CAT', I mean Baby Phat, he said, "And my youth, did you know that the brand you like to wear most, Baby Phat, was the devil's sign?"

Wow, can you imagine how I felt? I became hot in all my body, my blood was shifting here and there, maybe oxygenated blood shifted to my veins, which is abnormal because oxygenated blood is supposed to run through the arteries. I kept saying in my heart, "Thank you Lord! Thank you Lord for not letting me fall into the trap". I did not feel that it was important for me to talk about this until this morning because I was looking in a magazine and every time I turn the pages to look in it the first page that comes up is an advertising for the Kimora Lee Simmons perfume and the logo, the CAT, is well seen on the top of the page. So I had to look at it again because the color golden captures eyes although I hate to look at the CAT so much and right under it I read "GOLDEN GODDESS". Godess is defined as:

1. A goddess is a female deity, in contrast with a male deity known as a "god". A great many cultures have goddesses, sometimes alone, but more often as part of a larger pantheon that includes both of the conventional genders and in some cases even hermaphrotic (or gender neutral) deities.

What I am trying to say is that before you buy a brand or do anything for that matter, whatever it is, ask yourself why should I go into that? Think of what God would say, see if your heart agrees with the urge that's pushing you toward your decision. Only God can help you make a good decision. I like the title of the book writen by Edwidge Danticat that says "We Are Ugly but We are Here", I never read the book but the title I review all the time in my head. And today I will tell you that I am old fashion and ugly but God loves me and I am here. I am loving my God more and more everyday, my God, the only God sent His son to die for me so that I may be saved from my sins and the devil's capture. My God is Almighty, my God protects me, He is all for me.
